What a normal bed locks up
The bed, its two side tables and the floor you have to keep clear to walk round it and make it.
- Queen bed, 5½ × 6½ ft
- Two side tables
- 2 ft walkway you must keep clear
Mumbai’s wall bed specialist · Since 2022
Dwals folds your bed into 12 inches of wall — and hands back the floor you already paid for. Designed in Mumbai, built in our own Pune factory, installed by our own team.

Before / after · real Mumbai rooms
Left of the handle is the room as it was. Right of it is the same room with a Dwalsbed on the wall.

A 10-foot bedroom. The double bed and side table went; a sage wall unit with a desk came in.

A children’s room with a bunk bed and a walkway. A horizontal Dwalsbed under the loft, and the floor came back.
The arithmetic of a Mumbai flat
A queen bed holds about 50 sq ft hostage, 24 hours a day.
You use it for 8 of those hours.
At Mumbai rates, that idle floor is worth more than the bed.

Space & price calculator
Set four things about your room. We draw it from above — once with a normal bed and everything that comes with it, once with a Dwalsbed in the wall.
The bed, its two side tables and the floor you have to keep clear to walk round it and make it.
The same bed, in the wall by day. Closed, it is a 12-inch strip. Your ceiling takes a vertical unit.
Room enough for
We assumed a queen bed (5 × 6 ft) — the most common size for a room like this. Side tables 1½ ft each; walkway 2 ft on the open side and at the foot.
The wall bed that does this
Sizes from the same geometry the 3D studio uses. Floor-value is an illustration based on your property rate, not a valuation. Clearance assumption: 2 ft. Final pricing depends on size, finish and site.
The range

The classic. Queen mattress, 12-inch closed profile, any of 500+ finishes.

A real three-seater by day. The sofa slides clear as the bed comes down.

A fold-down desk on the door. Work all day; nothing to clear at night.

Folds sideways — for low ceilings, lofts and rooms with a window in the way. Horizontal vs vertical wall bed: how to choose.

Two singles, stacked or side by side. Kids’ rooms and guest rooms.

Wardrobe either side, bed in the middle. One flush run of doors when closed.

Wardrobes, lofts, desk and bed in one planned wall. Nothing else in the room.

The wall unit turns the corner: wardrobes on one wall, bed and sofa on the other.
Indicative. Final price depends on size, finish and site conditions.

The 12-inch proof
Closed, a Dwalsbed projects 12 inches from the wall — 305 mm — with a queen mattress and your bedding inside it. A conventional bed, deployed, takes the same floor all day.
Same bed. Same mattress. One of them disappears.
Built, not assembled

German technology mechanism. Gas struts rated to 300 kg, tested to 40,000 cycles.

Every mechanism cycle-tested on our floor before it leaves our Pune factory.

500+ laminates. Matte, high-gloss, woodgrain, acrylic, fabric-texture.
Sixteen of the 500+, cut from our own sample board. Pick one and it goes straight onto the bed in the 3D studio below.

Every control changes the real geometry, not a label. Drag to orbit, scrub the fold, and switch to Slim View to see the 12 inches from the side.
Closed, a Dwals wall bed projects 12 inches. A conventional bed projects 78.

Full wall units
The wall is already yours. A full unit puts the wardrobe, the loft, the desk and the bed into one planned run of doors — and leaves the rest of the room empty.

Two walls, one design. The bed takes the centre bay, wardrobes turn the corner, lofts run the full length overhead. A three-seater sits in front of the bed by day.

A double bed behind a flush door, a study nook with shelf and lamp beside it, lofts above the lot. Brass hairline trim if you want it; none if you don’t.

The same wall three times in one day. The desk folds out of the closed door for work; at night the door comes down and the desk goes with it, still set.
Price this configuration
Mirror, shelves and a fold-down desk in one narrow tower, for the wall that cannot take a bed. Built to the same carcass and finishes as the bed, so it matches.

The bed is a wall. The floor is a pitch, a stage, a track for the cars.
One pull and it is a proper single with a proper mattress — not a sofa pretending.
A desk in the door or beside it, shelves for the books, a lamp. Homework has a place.
Themes are custom-printed to order on the door laminate. Send us the character, the colours or the club; we send back a render before anything is made.

Inside Dwals
Most wall beds sold in Mumbai are imported kits fitted by a subcontractor. Ours are drawn, cut, tested and installed by the same company, in the same city. That is the whole difference when something needs attention in year three.

FAQ
A german technology mechanism — gas spring struts rated for 300 kg and cycle-tested to 40,000 open-close cycles — at one open and one close a night, that is more than a century of use. The struts are the same kind of sealed, self-damping units used in car tailgates; they do not rely on springs that stretch or cables that fray.
The cabinet is anchored into the wall at several points along its height, and the bed cannot fall open on its own: closed, the struts hold it against the cabinet, and it only comes down when you pull the handle and guide it. A child cannot swing it open by accident, and it cannot slam.
Yes. A Dwalsbed is built around a standard mattress — single 3×6, double 4×6, queen 5×6 or king 6×6. Spring, foam or coir all work. Tell us its thickness and weight at the measurement visit and we set the strut force to match, so the bed is as light to lift with your mattress as it was on our test floor.
The mattress stays on the frame, strapped in, and your bedding stays on the mattress. You close the bed made, and open it made.
For a vertical bed, allow the mattress width plus 4 inches: a queen needs about 5 ft 4 in of clear wall, and the cabinet stands about 6 ft 9 in tall. The room needs enough depth for the bed to come down — the mattress length plus about a foot to walk past the foot.
Ceiling height rarely stops a vertical bed in Mumbai flats, but if yours is under 7 ft 2 in, or a window or a beam sits in the way, we build it horizontal instead: the bed folds sideways from a lower, wider cabinet. Our fit advisor on this page checks all three numbers for you.
The cabinet is fixed to the wall with anchors sized for your wall — brick, RCC or block — through a few points along its back. When it is removed, what is left is a handful of anchor holes, filled and painted over in an hour. No chasing, no civil work, no false ceiling.
Yes, it moves with you. Our own team dismantles it, transports it and re-installs it in the new home; the mechanism is re-tuned to the new wall at the same time.
Yes, with one hand. The gas struts carry the weight of the frame and mattress; you provide the direction, not the force. Opening takes about eight seconds, closing about the same, and the struts damp the last few inches so it settles rather than drops.
We set the strut force to your mattress at installation, and show you the motion during handover so the first time you do it is with us in the room.
A Dwalsbed starts at ₹70,000 for a vertical bed in a standard laminate, and goes up to about ₹2,70,000 for a full wall unit with wardrobes, lofts and a sofa. A wall bed with a sofa starts at ₹1,25,000. Size, finish and how much of the wall you want built are what move the number.
We do not quote before someone has measured your wall. The measurement is free, the quotation is fixed for the configuration on it, and the 3D studio on this page will give you a live estimate you can send us on WhatsApp.
Each Dwalsbed is made to your measurements in our own factory in Pune, not pulled from stock, so there is a production window between confirmation and delivery. The exact lead time depends on the finish and how many units are in production; we tell you the date at quotation and confirm it when the 50% advance is received.
Installation itself takes our team one working day for a bed or a bed-and-sofa unit; a full wall unit takes longer, and we tell you how long at quotation. You can use the room the evening the installation finishes.
Every Dwalsbed carries a written 5-year warranty on the structure and the lifting mechanism.
It covers the carcass and welded frame against failure in normal domestic use, and the gas-spring pistons and lifting hardware. It does not cover cosmetic wear on laminate and edge-banding, or the mattress, which carries its own manufacturer’s terms. Service calls anywhere in Mumbai & MMR are by our own technicians.
Yes. Because the unit fixes to the wall with anchors rather than any civil work, landlords generally treat it the way they treat a wall-mounted wardrobe or TV unit. If your landlord or society wants it in writing, we describe the fixing method for you.
When you move, we remove it and fill the anchor holes; the wall is painted over and the flat is handed back as it was.
You call us, and our own technician comes — not a vendor, not a franchisee. Because we manufacture the units, every part is in our own stores, and a gas strut is a bolt-on component that swaps in minutes. If the failure is covered by the warranty, the part and the visit are on us; if it is outside the warranty, we quote the part before we come.
In practice, a strut rated to 40,000 cycles has used about three per cent of its rated life by year three. The more common call is a re-tune after a mattress change, which is the same visit.
