What happens at a wall bed site measurement? Someone from DWALS’s own team comes to your home, measures the wall and the room, and notes anything that changes the design, such as a beam, a window or a low ceiling. In DWALS’s words: “Our own team measures your wall, anywhere in Mumbai & MMR. No charge, no obligation.” After the visit, you get a 3D layout and a quotation for that exact design.
This guide explains why the measurement comes before the price, what gets measured, what to have ready, and what happens after the visit.
Why we measure before we quote
A wall bed isn’t a box off a shelf. Each Dwalsbed is “made to your measurements in our own factory in Pune, not pulled from stock”. So the price can’t be fixed until someone has seen the wall it will stand against.
That’s why the DWALS homepage says it plainly: “We do not quote before someone has measured your wall.” It also says what moves the number: “Final price depends on size, finish and site conditions.”
If you’d like a rough idea first, the 3D studio on the DWALS homepage gives you a live estimate that you can send on WhatsApp. It’s marked as “Indicative”. The fixed figure comes with the quotation after the measurement.
What gets measured
The visit is about one wall and the room in front of it. These are the things that decide what can be built, using DWALS’s published planning rules.

It also helps to point out anything else on that wall during the visit: a switchboard, a window, a beam, a pipe line or an AC unit. Things like these can change where the cabinet sits, so it helps to plan around them now rather than find them on installation day.
What to have ready
You don’t need to prepare much, but a few answers make the visit more useful.
- Your mattress details. A Dwalsbed is built around a standard mattress: single 3×6, double 4×6, queen 5×6 or king 6×6. The homepage asks you to “Tell us its thickness and weight at the measurement visit and we set the strut force to match”. If you’re keeping your current mattress, check its label before we arrive.
- What you want the wall to do. A bed on its own, a Murphy bed with sofa in front, or a full wall unit with wardrobes, lofts or a study desk. A rough idea is enough. The 3D layout comes after.
- Your society’s or landlord’s rules. If they want the fixing method in writing, DWALS’s published line is “we describe the fixing method for you”. The unit fixes with anchors, with no civil work.

How to book the visit
The booking form on the DWALS homepage asks for four things: your name, your WhatsApp number, your locality and your room size, roughly. After you send it, “We reply on WhatsApp within working hours.”

What you get after the visit
The measurement is step two of DWALS’s eight published steps, and the next two follow from it.
- Step 3, design and 3D layout: you see the design on your wall before you commit to anything.
- Step 4, quotation and confirmation: the quotation “is fixed for the configuration on it”. It also gives you a date. The homepage says “we tell you the date at quotation and confirm it when the 50% advance is received.”
